Chromebook Pixel 2 LS Review
The Pixel LS will surprise you with it level of performance. I have owned the original Samsung Chromebook, the Acer C720 and the Toshiba Chromebook 2. I also own a 15 inch quad core I7 2.6 Macbook Pro mid 2012 with a 250gb SSD in the DVD bay and a 1TB 7400 hard drive in the main bay with 16GB of ram. I own a I5 250 GB Surface Pro 256. Guess which computer I use the most. It is the Pixel by a large margin. It is built as well as the MacBook Pro, if not better in a smaller chassis. The screen is appreciably better than the 1400 by 1900 MacBook or and the Surface Pro even with it’a strong specs.. Then there is the speed. The only limit is your internet connection. It literally flies. Google Docs works every well, I actually prefer it over Office 365’s web version. Dropbox along with Google Drive and One Drive integrate into the Chrome Operating system’s file tree system.
The Cloud and the computer equally merge. I have used a hotspot since 2010 so mobile internet have never been a problem for me. The only difficulty I have run into is playing presentations with a lot of video content in it which I use for lectures. Both Google’s Presentation app and Powerpoint work in the browser. The cannot play presentations over 300 mg. This presents a problem for two of the courses I teach this term so I am having to use my Surface Pro 3 with my lectures. Video editing is done on my MacBook Pro. When I retire, in a few years I will only use a Chromebook Pixel. I highly recommend this computer for senior citizens like myself. It is easy to use and powerful. Editing pictures is a breeze and all of the software you need is web based and free. This model is clearly the future of computing. That future is bright.
