ASUS Chromebook Flip C100PA-DB02 Review
Note that this is one of the Chromebooks that is compatible with Android app. At $249 for the 2 gigabyte version (C100PA-DB01) or $279 for the 4GB it is very reasonably priced for the quality of the build and performance of this Chromebook. The Chromebook Flip is powered by a Rockchip RK3288 processor that delivers performance on par with Intel powered devices at the same price point. Battery life is outstanding with easily 8-10 hours of use between charges. You should be able to get great performance and manage battery life very easily with this Chromebook.
In addition, the Asus Chromebook Flip packs brilliant and innovative features into its compact and stylish design. This includes an HD camera, a 1280x 800 HD IPS display. The unique 360° hinge lets you use Chromebook Flip in an endless variety of ways, including laptop, tablet, stand and tent modes.
Other Information About Asus Chromebook Flip
Overall, ASUS did a good job on this Chromebook. IPS display, 4 GB RAM, really decent build quality, highly portable and a reasonable price. It is smaller than most Chromebooks at 10″ and is about the size of an iPad Air 2. Some may find the keyboard a little cramped and it may be hard to wrong long letters or papers on it.
The weak spot for this Chromebook is the Rockchip ARM processor. It performs slower than most Chromebooks but with 4 GB RAM performance it tolerable. If you have any tabs open with HTML5, be prepared for it to run out of memory. With a small amount of RAM, this is not unexpected Battery life on this device is awesome, about 9 hours. The screen resolution is lower than most but it is also a 10″ display. Works great with Android Apps. The only think I would change is the track pad. It responds well to your finger moving across it, but it has no left/right buttons. You need to use a firm hand to click anything. But since it has a touch screen and is mouse compatible, that is not a big issue.
Overall Pros and Cons of ASUS Chromebook Flip C100PA
- Screen quality. It’s not washed out like most Chromebooks. Sharp and colors are crisp.
- Touch screen is very convenient.
- Tablet mode is very useful with some apps.
- Swing screen for convenient video watching
- Android apps support. Makes it so much more powerful.
- Keyboard is excellent.
Cons:
- Screen size. Like most Chromebooks the screen is a bit small. This Chromebook is very portable and light as a tradeoff its harder to use as a laptop when using some productivity applications.
- Keyboard size. If you type a lot it might be a bit cramped. For me it wasn’t a real problem
- Not all Android apps work properly yet. For example Google Earth.
